EU Wide Ski Instructor Standards Agreed

The European Commission has said that a new common training test for ski instructors has been approved and is now undergoing a formal process of scrutiny by The European Parliament and Council.
In theory there have been common standards across the EU under the single market for years, but in reality different nations (and sometimes different regions within nations) have rated their own tests as more reputable than those of other European nations in some cases.
“Ski instructors, as other professionals and service providers, should be able to benefit from the Single Market,” said European Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska who is responsible for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, adding,
“The new test will help to improve the mobility of ski instructors within the Single Market and allow them to further contribute to this important sector of our tourist economy.”
The new common training test is voluntary however and does not harmonise different national rules.
If approved by The European Parliament and Council the new test should become valid in June.
