Ski resorts are shouting about their new lifts, tour operators about their great deals, but what about the airlines? Well, rest assured, they’re telling us about new routes and increased capacity making it even easier for you to fly from closer to home to closer to the resort you want to get to.

Here’s a quick digest:

More flights to Innsbruck:

Travelling to the Austrian Tirol will now be even easier with British Airways, easyJet and Laudamotion, who are all increasing their number of flights to Innsbruck. From 9 December, British Airways will run flights from Heathrow to Innsbruck daily, except for Wednesdays, and twice a day at the weekends. Additionally, easyJet is introducing a new flight from Manchester running every Sunday from December to March, and Laudamotion (owned by Ryanair) has launched a service from Stansted every Sunday and Dublin every Saturday.

Birmingham to Finland:

To make it easier for winter holidaymakers from the Midlands area to get direct flight access to the resorts of Ruka, Salla and Iso Syöte in the Finnish Lapland, Crystal has added a new flight route from Birmingham to Kuusamo in Finland this winter.

“Families and adventurers love Lapland because of the huge range of winter activities on offer. From dog sledding to reindeer sleigh rides, snowmobile safaris to ice fishing, plus a chance to see the Northern Lights,” said a Crystal spokesperson.

Leeds Bradford to Turin:

Jet2.com have announced they’ll be offering a new direct flight route from Leeds Bradford Airport to Turin, in Western Italy, next winter.

Turin is close to the huge Milky Way region, which offers 400km of pistes at resorts including Sestriere and Sauze d’Oulx, as well as Mongenevre in France. It’s also the closest major airport to the Aosta Valley ski areas of Cervinia, Pila, La Thuile and Courmayeur, and to south-eastern French resorts such as Serre Chevalier and Puy St Vincent.

Flights will run on Saturday mornings between late December and mid-April.

Bristol to Sweden:

EasyJet will fly from Bristol to Åre Östersund Airport this coming winter, the airline’s second route from the UK to the most popular ski resort in Scandinavia, Sweden’s Åre.

The announcement comes two years after the airline began flying to Åre from Gatwick, a route which William Vet, the Country Director of easyJet Sweden, says has been highly successful.

The new route will begin operations on 9 December alongside the existing service from London Gatwick. Fares start at £36.70 one-way, including taxes and based on two people being on the same booking.

Capital of the Alps, Innsbruck is close to a number of the Austrian Tirol’s best resorts, such as St Anton am Arlberg, Stubai and Mayrhofen.
