Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn, the most successful female skier of all time, and HEAD Sportswear, the global skiwear specialist, are joining forces.
Vonn has become an official HEAD Sportswear brand ambassador for the skiwear sector. Vonn, who began her alpine equipment partnership with the brand HEAD in 2009 will now also wear the brand’s performance ski apparel.
A captivating athlete not only on the mountain, but also on the red carpet – Vonn was named to Sports Illustrated magazine’s “Fashionable 50” list in 2017, 2018, and 2019, honoring her as one of the world’s most stylish athletes. With a passion for skiing and fashion, Vonn will also actively participate in the design of her own dedicated ski collection.
It’s no wonder that Lindsey Vonn will bring her sense of style to the collaboration with HEAD Sportswear. Starting from the 2020/21 season, the Lindsey Vonn x Legacy line will round out HEAD Sportswear’s skiwear collection.
Looking forward to the upcoming collaboration, Vonn comments, “HEAD has been with me professionally since 2009, and I really appreciate the company’s values. The partnership with the ski clothing division has opened up an entirely new challenge for me in my life and career after ski racing.”
“I’m excited about the look of the Legacy line, since it fulfills my vision of fashionable yet technical skiwear. I’m looking forward to applying my ski racing know-how and passion to really make a difference in ski apparel style and performance,” Vonn said.
Eighty-two FIS Alpine World Cup wins, one Olympic victory in downhill, and two golds, three silvers, and three bronzes at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships aren’t just impressive numbers; they also make Lindsey Vonn the most accomplished female ski racer in history.
During her career, the exceptional athlete often took unconventional paths and tested the limits of her sport. She was the first woman to start on men’s skis and expressed the desire to be allowed to compete in a men’s World Cup race, which was ultimately denied to her. In addition to her extraordinary successes in all alpine ski disciplines, she was repeatedly confronted with medical setbacks while showing impressive ambition to fight her way back to the top.
“Her fighter’s spirit and her extraordinary drive to tread unconventional paths make Lindsey a perfect partner for HEAD Sportswear,” says Vice President of HEAD Sportswear, Roman Stepek. HEAD’s clothing division experienced a comprehensive relaunch under Stepek in 2016, and has since repositioned itself in the skiwear segment. HEAD GROUP CEO, Johan
Eliasch, adds “I am very excited about this collaboration with Lindsey. We’ve developed new design concepts that are completely redefining sourcing and manufacturing. It’s been an exciting challenge that we’ve met with lots of ambition and team spirit. The result is a multifaceted, technically sophisticated, fashionable ski and tennis collection,” Stepek continues.
The best example is the new Legacy line, for which Lindsey Vonn will be the face in winter 2020/21. The dedicated skiwear collection will combine the latest materials with an elegant but edgy concept inspired by retro design. It will launch a completely new look for HEAD Sportswear that heralds a new decade, according to Stepek.
“The goal is that Lindsey further expands this line with the HEAD Sportswear design team and introduces both her expertise from her one-of-a-kind career and her mental strength,” Stepek explains.
