GTC Travel Group, a UK-based group flight organiser, has seen demand for snow holidays from the Asia Pacific region grow by 15% for the 2018/19 season.
Following reports of a rapid growth in the snow sports holiday market within this region, where it is estimated that 200 million people from the region have taken a snow holiday in the last three years*, GTC Travel Group, who works with a number of ski specialist tour operators has seen the biggest growth from the countries of India, Dubai and China.
This season GTC Travel Group reports that the best-selling hub to fly into has been Munich – as within a two hour transfer there are a wealth of world-class resorts in both Germany and Austria.
Other top-selling snow hubs have been the Austrian cities of Salzburg and Innsbruck followed by Calgary in Alberta, which boasts the powder-filled Banff resorts in the Canadian Rockies.
With just over 30,000 seats booked this year, Tahir Bhimani Director of GTC Travel Group said:
“With the exponential growth of skiing and snow-boarding in Asia it’s not surprising that enthusiasts will want to venture further afield to resorts in the West. These travellers are dedicated fans and appreciate the expertise that GTC Travel Group and the partners we work with can give them.”
Based in Harrow, and providing both a B2B and B2C service, the GTC Travel Group secures discounts with a range of airlines for seats from economy to first class and organises flights for groups in a range of sectors, many of whom have complex itineraries and requirements. These sectors include business and incentive travel, conferences and group leisure tours, educational groups, bands, choirs, orchestras and charity groups.
